The Addicts Comedy Tour
Many people recovering from an addiction would easily say that the healing process is full of ups and downs. Some days you feel confident and in control, while other days seem like a never-ending war. But even when the going gets tough, sometimes the best thing to do is kick back and have a good laugh.
Mark Lundholm and Kurtis Matthews know the journey all too well. As a way to stand tall against the daily struggles of sobriety, the 2 friends turned to their mutual love of comedy by forming the Addicts Comedy Tour, a traveling stand-up show that shares candid, relatable stories of recovery – with lots of laughter along the way.
Addicts Comedy Tour is one of the many recovery-focused comedy groups that have sprung up in recent years. These groups – which are often comprised of former addicts – relate strongly with audiences who have battled addiction.
Aside from traditional venues, Addicts Comedy performs regularly at rehab centers, prisons, Fortune 500 companies, and nonprofits all around the US. While the shows can appeal to any demographic, the inspiration and messages are often the exact motivation a person needs to get sober or stay in recovery.

Addiction Center is not affiliated with any insurance.
To Mark and Kurtis, comedy served as their creative outlet for expressing feelings about getting and staying sober. When they realized that comedy could help others in the same way, they decided to showcase their talents to the world.
Our focus is not on becoming famous, but rather on staying clean and sober…The more honest we are, the more fans we gather and the more people recognize themselves in our humor…and hopefully it helps them heal.
Since 2007, the in-demand comedy duo has performed on countless stages across the nation, drawing hundreds to each show. And with over 50 years of combined sobriety between them, Mark and Kurtis have plenty of stories to keep everyone chuckling the entire time.
The 2 friends were well-established comics before they met. Mark first started performing while living at a halfway house and recovering from addictions to meth, cocaine, and alcohol. Kurtis got sober after struggling for years with an alcohol use disorder, and started performing stand-up a few years later.
It’s no secret that Mark and Kurtis have found tremendous success in their careers and individual healing journeys. However, they’re fully aware that all it takes is 1 drink or dosage to revert back to the toxic habits they left behind. But by performing for audiences who relate to their journey, they’ve found greater purpose in their commitment to sobriety.
The shows are beneficial for us, too…As I look out and see people like us, I feel like I am at home.
