Davie, Florida is part of Broward County, where many people are struggling with alcohol and drug addiction. Alcohol is the most commonly-abused substance in Broward County, where almost one-third of people seeking treatment for addiction in 2015 reported suffering from alcoholism. In 2016, police arrested 1,720 people in Broward County for driving under the influence and half of all deaths involving drugs in Broward County also involved alcohol. Addiction to opioids and cocaine is prevalent in Davie and throughout Broward County among adults, while marijuana use is becoming increasingly common among younger Broward residents.

In Davie and Broward County, 217 people died in 2016 from overdosing on opioids, particularly fentanyl.
