In addition to inpatient programs, Ascension Saint Thomas Behavioral Health Hospital offers intensive outpatient programs (IOP), known as Stepping Stones, and electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) programs. When Ascension’s IOP is not in session, individuals can attend school, work, or otherwise engage in a healthy and productive lifestyle. ECT is a procedure commonly used to treat severe mental health disorders and psychiatric disorders that are not responsive to medications, including major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and schizoaffective disorder.
